The ICoF welcomed Dethlefs-Trettin in 2006 as the organization's first Director; her duties include oversight of organizational activities including strategic planning, program development and management, membership recruiting and retention, as well as education and outreach for the purpose of supporting philanthropy in Iowa.

Dethlefs-Trettin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication and a Master of Arts degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Development both from the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls, IA).  

 

Her career in philanthropy includes service as Director of Outreach and Director of Communication and Marketing with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, Endow Iowa Coordinator for the Iowa Council of Foundations, Project Assistant for Opportunity Works, and Teen Trust Director for the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa's youth philanthropic program.  In addition to her education and professional experiences, she has been an active volunteer in numerous organizations that have philanthropy as a primary focus.
