Iowa Council of Foundations









WHO WE ARE

The Iowa Council of Foundations (ICoF) was established in 1998 and is a nonprofit association of grantmakers (public, private, and corporate) that work together to increase, enhance and improve philanthropy in Iowa. The ICoF is a leader in advocating for and strengthening philanthropy, facilitating and promoting effective grantmaking, as well as serves as a forum for the exchange of information on programs and issues in regard to the import role philanthropy plays across the State of Iowa.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Membership in the Iowa Council of Foundations is open to:

  • Any charitable organization whose principle function is the making of grants within the state (membership is limited to foundations, trusts, corporations, banks and/or trust companies, or similar organizations which are active charitable grant makers to 501(c)(3) organizations domiciled within the State of Iowa.) Organizations having fundraising as their primary function are not eligible for membership.
  • Banks and trust companies which administer charitable trusts or foundations.
  • Corporations which have charitable grant making functions.

Members of the ICoF gather together for quarterly educational meetings to learn, share and network with other grantmaking organizations across Iowa. In addition, opportunities to learn from other similar foundations are specifically offered through affinity group meetings (private, corporate and community). Various other networking and educational pieces are offered for members as well.

To support portion of the efforts of the Iowa Council of Foundations, the Annual Membership Fee is $200 per organization.

  1. a description of your grantmaking process
  2. a list of grants as well as total grant distribution
  3. your federal tax exemption letter
  4. $200 check for membership dues made payable to the Iowa Council of Foundations
