Member of the Week: Community Foundation of the Great River Bend
Founded in 1964, the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend gathers gifts from people with charitable hearts, grows those gifts by investing wisely, and distributes grants to strengthen nonprofit organizations and to address the needs of the community. The Community Foundation has over 750 charitable funds with $85M in assets. In addition, the Community Foundation is the lead foundation for 14 affiliate community foundations in eastern Iowa and western Illinois who are gathering gifts and making grants in their communities. Through grantmaking and strategic programs, the Community Foundation has been able to build permanent endowments for nonprofit organizations, empower women to make educated giving decisions, teach more than 230 area youth about philanthropy and foster academic achievement. The Community Foundation strives to create positive, sustainable change by building community capital for today and the future.
